Hincesti City is known as a pioneer in the production of superior quality wines, which managed to reach the western markets (Great Britain, U.S.A., and Norway). In 1999 The National Wine and Vineyard Institute approved two more wine brands. Here is being produced The Hincesti Chardonnay, Hincesti Sauvignon and Hincesti Pinot Noir.
At the end of 1999 Moldavia Republic owned 162.000 vineyard hectars. From these, 110.000 hectars were with wine grapes, 15.000 hectars with grapes and 37.000 hectars with small private vineyards. In Moldavia Republic there are 127 vineyards that produce annually between 1 and 1,4 wine hectoliters.90% form the wine production is exported.
