Lefkada City lies in the neighborhood of north – eastern Acarnania, in the western continental part of Greece. It is the fourth island in population after Eptanissa (the seventh Greek islands from The Ionic Sea.
Lefkada is called “The White Island”. The economy of the city is agrarian, the most important crops being those of olives and wineyard and in Englouvi – the lentil. There are also to be metioned the Karia embroideries. Another income sources are the salt production and in Athani the honey production.
Lefkada is a small town, not very rich but with a special cultural tradition, with many representatives in literature, art and science. |
